A bit shit

Thanks for joining me!

Having a bit of a what the hell am I doing here moment. Been having a lot of those lately but hey:

I’ve always wanted to start a blog. Maybe for no other reason then I love to write. I love to make art too so I’ve just started a Facebook page for that because why not?

Life’s difficult y’all. I lost my job right before Christmas, I been spending too much money and it’s been catching up with me. My kids are driving me up the wall. We’re pretty much in the same room 24/7 because it’s a hot and smoky Australian summer and my children are well…spirited. But you’ll find out more about that later.

Believe me I know there are others worse off then us. My children are HEALTHY, we have money in savings to tide us over while I look for a new job, we have a roof over our heads and when it’s not 40 degrees Celsius we all have our own rooms to sleep in. Believe me I know how lucky we are.

But sometimes, just sometimes, okay daily I ask myself ‘why did I not get easy kids?’ I was an easy kid myself so it’s not karma. And I’m an early childhood educator so no I don’t have unrealistic expectations of children.

My children are smart, curious and energetic…they are also highly emotional, easily angered and will rule the household if we don’t constantly remind them who is in charge and why (and believe me and they can argue the point for days).

You know you’re a Mum when the kids go to the grandparents so you can clean the house in peace. And it feels like a holiday. You crank up the ‘ Maroon 5’ singing and dancing while you clean with the same vigor you danced to a live band with in your early 20s. You never felt so alive!

You may be asking yourself how I even have the time to write this blog. Well my children destroyed the only room we are using at the moment then the 7 yr old started watching animal videos on YouTube and the 4 yr old is almost passed out on the mattress in front of the TV watching ABC kids.

*Edit: I realised there was play dough left on the floor and suggested the 4 yr old pick it up before it dries out. He suggested I do it before throwing himself on the floor several times saying ‘I can’t do it, I keep falling down’. Thanks for helping me ignore him guys, he’s picked it up now.

Well it’s dinner time so I’m going to heat up some Chinese leftovers and cook some 2 min noodles to go with it. See? I’m a bit shit but we manage.
